Wanted to send another heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for supporting and helping get me through this. I love each and every one of you!
Got my Caris report back and we now know that I have a BRAF V600E mutation – according to Dr. Google, less than 10% of patients with colorectal cancers have this gene mutation.
The good news – NOT HEREDITARY! Meaning I didn’t pass this along to my kids.
Also good news – they were able to add on an additional drug to combat this specific mutation. Currently on FOLFOX and they added Bevacizumab based on that report.
Less than ideal news – this mutation is faster and more aggressive. (Honestly, knowing me, are we surprised?! 😉 )
I get a big dose of IV Benadryl at the start of each chemo sesh which means this update is probably the equivalent of a drunk text because that stuff makes me feel stoned as all get out. The silver lining – I have a hot cup of tea, a warm blanket and a great view. And of course, Daddio Mike is here to keep me company and probably record me snoring…. stay tuned for more updates!
