Back in the hospital

Posted on October 18, 2025 by Jamie Walls

***10-16-25 UPDATE*** after a ton of Oral meds through the night, I was finally able to use the restroom – it was an event and I’ll just leave it at that… I just met with the morning rounds doctor and they are getting me set up with a whole team so that I can actually get my pain under control and get hospice and palliative care rolling at home correctly so that I’m not ending up back in the ER over and over. I’ve been doing my best on my own, but now realize that I have been managing my pain very poorly, which is why I need a team to help me. And as ugly of a subject it is, making sure that my BM‘s are controlled. Even one day of being constipated, which is what all these pain meds and narcotics do to you, causes excruciating pain. They are going to keep me one more day so that I can meet with these teams and leave the hospital with literally everything that I need so that hopefully I don’t end up back here. I will say this… Every doctor and nurse I’ve ever met has been a compassionate and amazing person, but these people that have worked with me all day yesterday and last night and this morning have been nothing short of phenomenal and I have nothing but amazing things to say about them. Not once have they made me feel like I’m a nuisance for having to ask for pain meds, or needing my bed adjusted, and they even made it to where I could take a hot shower last night because I was so miserable. Say what you want about corporate entities, the real people that make the cog work are nothing short of angels. Each doctor that I have met has said that it is their goal to make sure that I go home with new meds with a new palliative care team so that I am as absolutely comfortable as possible. ❤️‍🩹

***UPDATE*** they are admitting me tonight and we are working on clearing out some space in my GI tract. The cancer is taking up so mich room that even amall amounts of stool and gas build up is excruciating. Fun subject, I know. But if it helps relieve the pain I’m up for anything.

Back in the hospital – I went for a routine chest draining this morning and got my usual amount out, but when they did an ultrasound on my stomach to see if there was fluid they could drain, there’s literally no fluid in there and so they sent me to the hospital because they’re worried that I have an infection of the stomach lining, especially with the amount of pain im in and with how big my belly is.

Waiting on getting more imaging done, and they were able to get a few drops out of my abdomen to test for infection so we are waiting for those results as well.

I love you all – will update when I know anything
